I just got a Lenovo SL400 for my sister and it doesn't recognize when the lid is closed. The monitor doesn't shut off, and if I set it to go into sleep mode when i close the lid, the monitor still stays on. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks.

Another problem I noticed is that the power button will not work when the laptop is unplugged. If I plug it in, then power it on and unplug it, it is fine but it won't power up on battery power alone.

Yes, I have checked the Windows settings. When I have it on sleep mode, it wont go into sleep mode when the lid is closed and the monitor stays on. When I have it on do nothing, same thing happens.
