Just got this card off ebay. Auction page says it works with GM45/47 thinkpads. I have the latest bios installed.

some report that SL400 was never offered with wifi link 5300, others say otherwise. Not sure what to believe.

Anyone have any insight, or perhaps know a fix (i have no idea how to mod the bios)

    TIA :)

Return it, it's not working as advertised.

Add-on cards with thinkpads can only be used for those that are specifically allowed by the BIOS. So if Lenovo never offered the 5300 on the SL400, I would wage the BIOS does not support it and you cannot use it.

This is exactly what i'm trying to find out. Is it, or is it not, on the whitelist for my specific notebook??

Can't seem to find any decently priced 5100's on ebay either, and i really don't wanna be stuck with G :(

the SL can't use the 5300 card, it can use the 5350 card or the 5100 card.

i see. Thanks for the info.

Well, i see some decently priced engineering sample 5350's on ebay. Is there any reason not to get an 'Engineering sample' wifi card???

the engineering sample are like beta OS, depending on how close they are to production, they may not be very stable. Also, these cards need to be from Lenovo or one that is compatible with Lenovo Thinkpads, otherwise you would still get the 1802 error.

Well, still no deals on 5350 or even a 5100 on ebay. I noticed, however, that earlier versions reportedly shipped with a 4965AGN (at least according to a review here).

Is there somewhere i can actually see the whitelist or what parts are supported for my notebook??
