As the title suggests, is the eSata port on the SL410 1.5 or 3gbps? I looked in the psref sheets, and it didn't say (it only says the internal SATA port is 3gbps). Anyone have any idea? :)

In that generation (the SL410 came out after the T400, before the T410), it should all be SATA 3Gbps.

I still have it, but I'm most likely giving it to my brother when I get another system. I just wanted a dedicated linux machine (which is compatible with ubuntu 10.04) and the SL410 will do nicely. Eventually I'd like to get a Llano notebook and replace the T410 with that. :)

i see, so you are trading down essentially. How much did you get the machine for?

I didn't want to pay a whole lot, so I opted for the SL410 (keeping ubuntu 10.04 compatibility in mind). I got it at Newegg for $406 (price went down the day after I ordered :p). Now I'm looking at possibly either the thinkpad edge E525 or ideapad Z575 to replace the T410.

Perhaps. I'm just not willing to spend $800 or $900+ on a new system these days, but given my positive experience with Lenovo I'd rather stay with the Lenovo brand.

Yes i guess if you don't carry your laptop around with you all the time, the SL series would be okay. I would suggest Edge E525 with the A8 processor.

If that ever becomes available I would like to get it, but it's still only available with the A4 (atleast in the states). :(

ok, i guess in the States the price differential between the E520 and E525 is not large, and they don't want these machines to compete against each other.
