Hello, I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm whether or not the SL410 is backlit or not? The review here at NBR said it's just CCFL, but many other places on the net have the specs listed as LED.
So can someone tell me which it is? Thanks. :)

Look in the tabook and honestly three hours is hardly enough time to expect a response.

Tabook? And I saw there were many that read my thread, but no response. ;) I'm close to making a purchase, that's why I'd like to know. :)

TABOOK if you use google shows all the service parts from Lenovo. It shows that they are LED backlight.

Or, instead of using Google, he could look in the sticky at the top of the board to get a link to tabook.

Yeah that is a good point about the sticky. Thanks!

Lol, well thanks everyone, and you'd think a long time member such as myself should know to read the stickies. :p
I asked because I was getting differing information on the net. I've been reading a lot of reviews, information, about many different notebook models for the past 2+ weeks as I'm in the market for a new one. I like what I'm reading about Lenovo and I may give them a try. :)
So far, I have it narrowed down to an SL410 (I know you guys don't consider it a real Thinkpad, so be it), or a U150. Since both are LED backlit, and have HDMI (two requirements of mine), it makes the decision even more difficult.
Thanks for confirming to me that it's indeed LED backlit. :)

For what it is worth I LOVE LOVE LOVE my T400s (which has LED backlight). Some great prices on them. No HDMI, but there is display port and if you get the dock for it you get two HDMI ports in the dock!

Hmm, interesting, thanks Phil. I am more or less leaning toward an ultraportable at this time. Enough power for my needs, and no ODD, and I'd plan to put in an SSD at some point. The less moving parts the better. ;)

LOVE the Toshiba 256 SSD finally 200 mbits + on a 1.8" form factor with TRIM and FDE...works flawlessly...way better than lenovo's other lame options in the 1.8" form factor.

I guess I better read some more specs. Does the SL410, T400 or U150 use a 1.8" FF HDD?

    T400 has 1.8" like T400s
    SL410 has 2.5" drive bay

43N3417 is the part number for the 1.8" 256 SSD drive with FDE and WITH the 2.5" adapter included which will work in either T400 or Sl410

    Idea pad is from tabook:
    250GB (5400 rpm) or 320GB (5400 rpm) / SATA 1.5Gb/s, 9.5mm high, removable

2.5" but Sata 150 = no point of getting SSD really..

Thanks very much Phil, you've been a lot of help. :) [off to check the tabook :)]
About an SSD, I was actually looking at an Intel one. :)

I have an Intel, Toshiba, and Samsung -- I like them all but the Toshiba has FDE built in the other two don't. Just set your HD password, and you your drive is encrypted.

Intel seems to stutter a bit at times of course I have the 160 gig version 1 of the drive...

One thing at a time, I still have to decide which notebook to get. ;)

You'd think for the price, Lenovo would enable SATA II on the U150. It's been proven there's little to no benefit in power consumption or heat production to scale back the SATA controller. *shrug*
