Right now till the 24th I can get one for $466 before tax (Canadian) which seems ok. Basically I'll be leaving it at school (rarely taking it home) so It doesn't really need to do much other than open a pdf file and browse the internet. Thing is I find netbooks a bit limiting. By the way, are these laptops any good?
Just not sure which one to pick, though. Are the screens identical? How much difference is there in the size? Initially I wanted a 13 or 14 inch...but since I can get a 15 inch for the same price as a 14 inch and practically at the same weight...it seems almost a waste to go for the 14 inch. I just don't want a massive machine either, though, so if the difference is noticeable then...ya.
Really I wanted something light around 3.5-3.9 lbs, but in the 500$ price range that doesn't seem to exist.
Also how is lenovos shipping? I don't want to wait a month and get the laptop when school is over...lol

Don't use the mindset that you'll be getting "more" by buying something bigger. With laptops the technology for smaller and thinner machines is actually more expensive in many cases since it takes a unique design and architecture to keep a small laptop running cool -- you can find 17" laptops for the same price as 12" laptops. If you need a light laptop that's easy to carry around go for the SL410. However, if you'll never be moving this laptop and it'll be sitting on a desk the SL510 makes more sense. The screen quality is going to be identical in each, just the size will be different.

k well i didnt know if the notebook itself was smaller or if they basically just left more space empty with the 14 inch. That said, i thought the sl series was matte screen, but it looks like its actually glossy. I'd prefer matte...but this is the best deal i've found for a 13 or 14 inch laptop >_>. I can't even find anythingat a 13 or 14 inch size under 550 or 600$ CDN other than this.
Only other thing that sucks is it says shipping estimated at 1-2 weeks....very long to wait. Might have to buy something at WM and return in before 30 days lol -
They're not the same weight. I would think you could find a larger netbook like 11.6" in your price range and for most uses it'll be fine. I don't know, maybe it's more expensive in Canada.
SL410 and SL510
