Just upgraded my SL500 to Windows 7 Professional x64 with few problems.
I installed over an XP install, so basically clean on a seperate partition from my data. Only took about 40 minutes.

Nearly all drivers were detected and correct with the Windows install and Windows update.

One thing that didn't automatically install and I can't get to work is the 4-in-1 card reader, although I don't know if my test media is readable in the first place. I installed a x64 driver for the W500 and it's recognized...

Found out that my T5870 doesn't support hardware assist virtualization so no XP mode for me . Ah well.

I should also note that the performance under Win7 may be...gasp...better than WinXP Pro. Never thought I'd see a Microsoft upgrade that did something positive :)

You shouldn't need any special driver for the card reader, other than what Windows 7 already provides itself.

What is the exact issue? Is the card reader not recognized in Device Manager or are you just not able to read the cards?

The 4-in-1 wasn't recognized in the install process, and didn't show up in Device Manager (or rather, it did, but as "unrecognized device").
