This computer with Wimax & 5% USPRETHINK discount gets delivered for less than $600:

This review (with the T6670) says it runs pretty cool on the top surface... always less than 30C:

This benchmark says the T4400 is fast enough for the price:

    Faster than the reviewed processor:

    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+T6670+@+2.20GHz

Is the T4400 going to magically cook my hands whereas the T6670 looked pretty good on heat?

Is there any reason not to get the SL510 with WiMax for $550US and $600US out the door?

Any first hand experiences on heat, or otherwise, with the SL510 or this T4400 processor will be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Ed

If you're looking for a less expensive ThinkPad, why to a R400 or R500 from the outlet? They'll offer you better quality than the SL.

As for the T4400 it would seem odd for it to run significantly hotter than the T6670, but I don't have any firsthand knowledge.

They all come with Vista, and Windows 7 64bit is a better starting place. Also equivalent processors but less memory and no Wimax.

    Mostly a Vista allergy.
