Hi all,
I got my Y580 ideapad 209945U model (500G 7200rpm w/ blue ray) yesterday. August 8th.
I ordered it on July 22nd so it took about 18 days totally.
It indicated on the box that it was built on 8.2, which, i believe is fairly up-to-date.
Everything worked fine until I tried to play some RPG games.( Dragonnest, crossfire)
The screen got stuck and I had to shut down and restart manually.
I tried to reopen the games but it got even worse: several times of bluescreen and the NVIDIA GTX660M disappeared sometimes(but I fixed this issued by unplug and the replug the battery).
I used the One-key recovery program about 5 times already. I installed the drivers (304.79, 304.48, the original ones and the one from lenovo website) in vain. Same things happened. Plus the speed of the laptop became slower and slower.
Finally when I tried to rate the Win 7 system in properties of my computer, the screen still got stuck 3 seconds after I clicked "rate the system".
I found a thread named "Lenovo Y580 bug" on Lenovo official community forum, tried to run GPU-Z program and found the shocking results. No matter which model I chose in the energy balance program, the readings of the GTX660M is unchanging. So does it mean its completely damaged? How could that be possible?! Its my 1st day to test this so-called great laptop for gaming and such things occurred. I've never experienced graphics crash before so I am really frustrated right now.
btw, The Intel 4000 worked fine when I tried to use it for those games.
Would any techician offer some suggestions on what was going on and what should I do?
Or anybody can give me some advice?
I'll attach the following test scores.

Easiest solution is to return it. The only problem I encountered when I first opened my Y580 is the windows system is very slow. I formatted my entire hard drive and so far it's fast already. But the default Seagate 1TB hardisk is generally slower compared to WD equivalent. You could try formatting it manually and install windows from scratch. Make a recovery disc first before proceeding.

The clocks for the 660M looks off. Something does not appear right with the hardware. You may have been provided with a bum chip especially after you tried to restore your laptop to its original factory condition several times. I would return it if I were you.
