    Hello,

    Need to upgrade a T400 from HDD to SSD however i need to buy the same SSD model that ships with it from the factory.

    Just wondering, why do you need to buy it from Lenovo? An aftermarket performance one like the Intel X25-M G2 would be a better option both in terms of costs and performance.

    you can use any SSD on the market as long it can be fitted in 2.5 inch format and 9.5 mm in thickness.

    He is just expressing his need. I don't see a question here.

    Joking aside, if you are buying a new T400, getting the SSD from Lenovo can save you some time and labor of cloning or reinstalling everything. But if you already has a T400 with HDD, and would like to upgrade to a SSD, there are many better choices than the one used by Lenovo, say Intel X25-M or OCZ Vertex.
