I'm planning to throw a Samsung 830 into my X230T. I want to do a fresh install when I do so. So am I correct in thinking that I can just use ABR to copy the Windows activation status and restore it right to the SSD and not have to mess with any drive cloning software?

It should be as easy as sliding the old drive out and the new one in, followed by a Windows install then ABR restore? I already fresh installed on the HDD and had no issues with ABR working, so I can use the same saved certs again on the SSD right? No need to run ABR again?

    Thanks.

Windows OEM activation comes in two steps:

Firstly, the BIOS must have a SLIC 2.1 Table. If your Laptop came with Windows preinstalled than this information should be there.

Secondly, you need to install the correct OEM certificate in Windows. If you use the Lenovo Restore DVDs to install Windows on your SSD you do not need to worry about that and your Windows will be activated without you having to do anything. If you use a "vanilla" Windows 7, then you will have to install the certificate by yourself, or activate via Internet/Telephone. I am not sure if it is legal to post information about the installation of the OEM certificate here, hence I will not go any further.

If you do a clean installation of Windows on the SSD, you can use your notebook's COA key (printed and pasted on the battery bay).
