Which SATA III ~128gb SSD is best for the W520? If you have an SSD in your W520, how has it performed?

It depends on how you define "best"? Fastest benchmarks? You're talking SandForce, but I would avoid SATA 3 SF controller based SSDs as Corsair had a huge recall of their Force 3 series, OCZ may have their own. Reliability? You are looking at Intel. Other worthy contenders are Crucial or Samsung, but personally I'd stick with Intel.

i started out with a vertex 3 had a bunch of issues. bsod's freezes, etc. it is amazingly fast, when it works. i've had an intel 510 for a week and a half that was imaged from the v3 and it's worked great. rock solid. no freezes, no bsod's, nothing but rock solid dependability. you deciide which you'd rather have.

thanks man that's what i was looking for. let me know here if any problems do pop up with the intel. and i assume that you ARE reaching SATA III speeds? because i asked a lenovo rep and they told me that the w520 is only SATA II, but I figured he didn't know what he was talking about.

Also, did you need to do any tweaking to get the intel to work, or did you just slip it in and it was ready to go?

    I use a crucial 260 GB on mine. It's ultra-reliable and silent.

I think intel's 320 beats the 510, even though the 320 is 3Gbps SATAII and the 510 is 6Gbps SATAIII. Recomend you check out reviews from anandtech.com. PCPer.com does good reviews too, great podcast too.

I personally use intel's x25-m SSD (second Gen) in two computers. I chose intel for their reputation for SSD drives that don't fail.
