Hi.
Tomorrow I get my ThinkPad w510, and I would like to put in an SSD. I thought of an Intel X25-M SSD 160GB (SSDSA2MH160G2C1).I checked up on the reviews and it seems pretty good to me. But if you guys got some comments to it, then its welcome!?
Is there any think I should know about before installing it? (drivers and so on ?) and can I just install Windows as I use to do with the normal disc ?
(It is my first ThinkPad and my first SSD so..)
Btw. is there at windows disc with the computer or is there only a partition for recovery?
Im new on the forum and looking forward to be here![]()

Just use it like a regular hard drive (except don't defrag). Check up the hardware subforum to check out more tips from those with Intel SSDs.

You can burn the recovery disks on first boot (option can be found in the Start Menu) and use those disks (a set of 1 CD + 2 DVDs) to install an exact factory install on your Thinkpad.
You can use it pretty much the same way as a conventional hard drive, with only a few minor differences. You don't need to go mucking around in Windows settings though, most everything that should be changed will be done automatically by Windows (and like sgogeta4 said, there's no need to defrag).
