I am thinking of purchasing an R series IBM model but does anybody know if the 15 sxga+ screen of the R52 is a flexview screen? Is there a difference between the IPS and the flexview? I am confused..... thanks

Only certain models have Flexview. What is the machine type? It should say somewhere in the specs if it is Flexview. The Flexview screen is brighter, more contrast and has wider viewing angles. I have the Flexview. It is one of the better matte screens I have seen.

Well it says SXGA+ IPS. Actually it seems that there is no R52 model with flexview...Anyway have you any idea about the viewing angles of such screen?Does this IPS technology improves these?...

It is probably just the standard laptop screen. Meaning as you turn the screen off center, it will darken.

IPS = FlexView
Or to be more precise:
What IBM calls "FlexView" is definitely based on an IPS panel.
Which means:
* 180 viewing angles
* Accurate color reproduction
Now, maybe IBM has some IPS LCDs that don't use "FlexView", but I doubt it.
SXGA+ or FLEXVIEW?
