Has anyone who had their T61 arrive with a blue tint managed to fix it with the on-board colour settings?
Just wondering cause my screen is due to be replaced next week because of dead pixels and am bracing for the worst!!![]()

how many dead pixels do you have? which panel do you have? I tried tinkering around with the color settings but it doesnt help, i dont mind the blue anyway.
-
I have a few pixels. Enough that it qualifies under whatever the warranty is.
Have you tried playing with all of the colours (not just general setting but blue-specific pallette)? -
Yea, i played around the the pallette. couldnt get it much better, but then again, i didnt play around with it for very long since i didnt really mind the tint, easier on my eyes IMO.

It's funny you mention this. While I think the LG panel is really vivid, I do kinda miss my old Gateway's more grainy look.
Guess we've all become way too hyper attuned to this stuff.
Any chance you can take a snapshot of the screen so those of us who keep hearing about "blue tint" actually know what we've potentially got in store? -
Im currently setting up a T61 14.1 for my cousin and it has the Samsung panel; compared to my Flexview it looks hideously blue and grainy, the viewing angles are also terrible. I may get motivated and take some comparison pics while I have it at my house..

Ok, I took some pictures... Someone needs to suggest a good image hosting / sharing place with minimal registration requirements.

its a porn hosting but theyre good heh -
It's not that bad.

As an update, the new screen I got when the stuck pixel panel was replaced is another LG. So I don't yet know the Samsung experience. Gotta imagine it can be remedied by playing with the color/brightness/contrast settings.

I have the T60 with the Samsung and I was able to fix some of the blue tint by going into the ATI control center and fiddling with the gamma controls, I set mine to .90 and it seemed to make the color more balanced.
-
I was able to fiddle with the X3100 color settings and improve the colors a bit as well, however, I have not had time to put up the comparison shots yet (they show DRAMATIC differences).
-
The color was the least of my concerns with the samsung display.

Honestly, I had both screens (I had to return my original T60, but waited until I got my new one to ship it) and neither screen is that great, they are not bad, but I didn't notice a huge difference between the two.

T61 14.1 Samsung Display vs T60 15" Flexview...
The difference is stunning. For reference, I used a Nikon 7900 and aside from cropping and resizing the image has not been manipulated. The photo on the screen was taken in the main square in Prague (Czech Republic).
Unfortunately the image does not capture the graininess problem with the Samsung screen as well. -
How much better are the LG screens, and in what way?
-
You can't really be comparing the Flexview with the TN panel. If anything, compare LG and Samsung.
-
The FlexView displays pretty accurate colors.
Isn't the topic of this thread? -

That all notebook displays are equally as poor was news to me. Maybe I've just been extremely lucky until now? Because while my wsxga+ LG's colors may not be as nice as that of my flexview, I've had no complaints. Both x-brite and x-brite eco vaios I had were outstanding. Even on the emachines monitor I'm currently using, and an old toshiba satellite that had pretty washed out colors- I've had no display that in and of itself made for a dealbreaker as the samsung was for the t 61 (ymmv).
(OT) unhooked- you sent off the too dim flexview already and have R 61 on the way right? I think these recent $500 R's are the hottest notebook deals of the year. Moreso considering that now R's in 14.1" are essentially T's (but cooler). Congrats. Going to update your sig btw?
