It's based on a few who had bad screens. I said this before and i'll say it again. Samsung and LG are two of the top companies in the world for high quality flat panels. Samsung flat panel HDTV's generally have high consumer ratings and customer satisfaction.

Some who have recently received Samsung flat panels have been happy as well. Unfortunately that's the way of the internet. Word spreads fast and before you know it the product is crap.

My opinion is that Samsung shipped out a bad batch of displays and word spread quickly. Someone in another thread mentioned that a Lenovo rep stated that both LG and Samsung are very equal in quality and I believe that.

I'm not worried on whether I get a Samsung or an LG just ship me my laptop Lenovo !

As far as I know, the only complaints against Samsung screens have really come from the Samsung 15.4" panel vs. the LG 15.4" panel. I have a Samsung 19" LCD and I'm very happy with it. Also, as Rodknee said, many people (including one of the reviews on this site) have said the Samsung screen is very acceptable and the difference is only really noticeable when it is compared side-by-side with an LG screen. I wouldn't worry about it too much. That said, I received an LG panel with my T60 and am also very happy with it.

I have samsung on my t61p and my friend has LG , i won't change my samsung with that , i think people are being very picky , my samsung is sharper, brighter and very clear, I am sure after monitor we will see threads will start about keyboard again.
And who is returning their system because of display? Lenovo even doesn't have T61p on its websites anymore because of some unknown issues ( maybe shortage on components ) and even when they have there is no guarantee with your next order what display you may get , if you return only The God knows when you will get another one and , I am very thankful that i have my system after long wait

No offense eyecon, but I think you need to chill out. You've been bringing up a lot of old threads about screens. I understand you being nervous about the quality of yours, but you're still going to open it and see for yourself, regardless of what other people on a forum say. (I hope you don't return it based on people on a forum) Let your own eyes make the decision.

The reason why they took t61p off is due to the wusb antenna...shortage on supplies

amitface: what else are forums for? this thread wasn't that old

I think a thread dated before the T61s were out is old enough. But you're right, that is what forums are for.

Oh..so this is a t60 forum...sorry..I wasn't sure of the exact date t61's came out and t60's were discontinued

but you are definetly right about me chilling out...to me..the most important part of a notebook is its screen...i mean that's what we interface with..not the cpu, fan, etc...the screen is our 'first look' and maybe i am going a little over board

my Samsung WSXGA+ in my T60 was garbage. thats why it went to ebay :D

grainy, horrible verticle angels (you look at the center and the top and the bottom are washed out), no true whites, a good notch and a half dimmer than the other two samsung WXGA panels I have... blah!

You guys that are happy with LG and saying it's probably not "that bad" to have a samsung wsxga+... unless they've changed things and gotten better, you wouldn't say that even if you weren't seeing them side by side... IMO

I had the same problem , but when i used my T61p WUXGA compare to my friend's LG (side by side) it is sharper and brighter , I think its matter of personal preferences , Maybe Samsung is better when it comes to higher resolution or maybe they had some bad series in the market , but the point is we can't choose what display we want and order it as Lenovo doesn't have this option and how do you know if you return and order a new one you will get LG , it can be another Samsung or Phillips ,I agree about what you said " display is very important and i can tell you mine is great and its a 15.4 Samsung WUXGA and its really cool , keep us posted when you get yours I hope you like it , as you know there is no T61p on Levono website know ,
