Just read the news about sandisk vaulter flash module thats gonna hit the market next year. I was wondering if it can be used with current computers or is it exclusively for newer computers going to be released next year. Vaulter is a PCI express module. is it the same as an expresscard?
If I can use the vaulter disk with my current T61 in the expresscard slot, to take advantage of it, will I have to reinstall windows on to vaulter?

It seems like it is a Sandisk’s response to the Intel Turbo memory, but with a different take on flash drive acceleration: Instead of relying on file caching mechanism like ReadyBoot it is more like an intermediate SSD between the host and the HDD. -
Well the original question about PCI-E probably not since your video card is using the mini pci slot right now....

No I goofed. If you have turbo memory or WWAN you can't use the card, but you can if you don't have either. Not the graphics slot -- its where turbo memory is or WWAN...however there might be BIOS restrictions as the card might be unreadable if it isn't recognized. Sorry for the confusion.

I might consider removing Turbo Memory and going with this instead. Sounds nice. I'm sure Microsoft will probably want me to re-buy Vista though since I'd be using a different hard drive to host the OS
I think this is really the right idea, however, size is still going to matter. The OS is one thing, frequently used apps really should be on the flash drive too.

Just clone your boot partition over and bam you're up and running in about what 1-2 hours
Assuming 30gig drive and the Vaulter has a optimistic 30meg/s write.
