I am not really a ThinkPad owner, but I think this is the place to ask.

I have an Dell M4400 with everything I want, except for an enclosed second real hard drive. Dell went with a 1.8" option for the bay instead of the standard 2.5".

So I found the ThinkPad Sata Bay adapter 43R1980, it uses the standard slim sata connector and fits a 2.5" drive. Perfect for the ThinkPad and the dell too maybe, but I am not sure enough to order without hands on experience.

So does anyone have access to both a ThinkPad T400/T500 and a Dell E5400/E5500/6400/E6500 or M4400? Would you mind comparing the optical drives and even try swapping them? If the locking mechanisms are a little different they might be swappable too.

    Thanks
    Geoff C. Turner

Order one and if it doesn't work, flip it on eBay. You probably won't loose too much.
