well it was my stupidity. I was working on transfering stuff from old computer to an outer hard drive to transfer over to my w510. I was only sitting about a foot off the ground. with my hard drive on the floor and I was looking at something on my old computer and I must have moved the wrong way and my w510 slipped and I couldn't grab it in time as it hit my outer hard drive. It didn't hit the hard drive on the screen side but on the other side but it still has a puncture point and a crack running up the screen which is now making it impossible to see the screen. Fortunately my old computer which is barely working is on so I can use it but I leave to go out of town on thursday and Need my laptop. which just makes this even worse

It's going to cost a ton unless you can find a screen on ebay and do your own repair.

Did you buy the ThinkPad Protection Plan as part of your warranty?

I was afraid of that. I didn't buy the protection plan at the time. I take pretty good care of my laptop so I felt the extra couple of hundred dollars wouldn't be worth it and of course the one time I could use it. I do have a company around here that we get our stuff from work worked on and they do stuff with Lenovo so I'm goin to go check with them in the morning to see what they can do, how much and hopefully have it ready by wednesday because I head out of town early thursday

as part of the Lenovo rule on Thinkpad Protection, you can get within 90 days of purchasing the laptop within North America. So just go get it now, you should be okay.

If the purchase was placed on a major merchant credit card.
Check to see if by chance they offer buyer protection of sorts that will help.
