There are several small dark marks on my screen, on my R500 Thinkpad. They seem to be internal, and cannot be removed by a microfiber cloth. It is quite a new laptop, I didn't move the laptop out of my house even once, and didn't do anything that should cause something like that.. Since it seems to be an internal defect and not my fault, does the lenovo warranty cover it?
If it does cover that would you recommend to replace the screen? Are there any problems with replacing a screen in a laptop that I should know of?

Are these marks corresponding to the keyboard keys and the TrackPoint? Although I haven't really heard of the T/Rx00 laptops having issues with the TrackPoint and keyboard leaving marks on the screen, it may be a possibility if pressure is applied.
If it is not resulting from any fault on your part, Lenovo's warranty should cover such defects. Of course, you'll have to call them and see.
There are no problems with screen replacement, per se, but as some users have posted, the servicing depot work may be less than satisfactory when it comes to handling your laptop. That largely depends on what company Lenovo contracts to do the repair work, though, and how lucky you get. Many people have had very good repair jobs on their Thinkpads, while others have had problems. -
Thank you, I'll call them and ask. Tough I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble and risk of having a bad repair job..

i can only get onsite for after my warranty expires - and its 200 dollars for one year...
do people have bad experience from the depot service? -

I entered my serial number and model number on the Lenovo site, and these were the only options that they offered me.
Is it a lot better to have onsite warranty? is it a risk sending your comp to be fixed with the depot warranty? -
I believe you are eligible to upgrade the warranty at any time as long as it's still under warranty. The only caveat would be you can only do it once. You can't upgrade it to three then to five years. You should probably just call CS and see what they say.
In my experience on-site tends to be better, but it's kind of pricey.
