How is the screen brightness on your T61? I think some people are getting the Samsung LCD while others got LG. Which one is better?

I had a Samsung and the screen was plenty bright. "Had" because I sent it back due to other screen issues. It was grainy, but I think I got an exceptionally bad one because I haven't heard any other complaints about it.

I have the 14" 1440x900 LG screen, and the brightness is good. I don't know if my particular display is "grainy" - to me it looks perfect, and there are no dead pixels.

However, the default BIOS settings cause the display to be dimmer when on battery. To achieve full brightness one must tweak the BIOS, but this will also cost a little battery life. The lower brightness setting isn't really enough for me during the day, but in the evenings I can tolerate even dimmer settings.

I just got my T61, it's the 15.4" WXGA screen, 99% sure it's an LG panel - it's got a good brightness, AFAIK it's 185nits .. its very suitable, the light leakage is a bit irritating but I can live with it.

mine's a 14.1" LG. it's really bright, comparable to glossy HP DV2615US and sony VGN series even in BIOS display setting @ normal instead of " bright".

Try running PC wizard that is the best way. You'll get a model number, just popping it into ebay should do the trick. Otherwise look at your parts list, search for the LCD screen and pop the FRU number into google.
