Just received my T430. I'm sure this is a simple fix, but screen display flashes black every time I switch from ac power to battery and vice versa. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Much thanks in advance!

I am reasonably certain this is caused by the Lenovo Power Control utility as it does not occur on a fresh installation of Windows on my x230.

I suppose you could uninstall it, but the advantages outweigh the drawbacks, imo

Pretty sure that is the computer changing from 50Hz to 60Hz and the opposite. When on power it is on 60 and changes to 50 when on battery. I thought that was changed in a Intel Graphics Update, but I'm not sure for the T430. Pretty sure they changed it for my x220.

yes, it happens every time I plug or unplug the computer--JohnsonDelBrat and I don't quite agree on the why, but it is not a hardware fault. You could, I guess, try uninstalling the Lenovo Power Manager. I can tell you that this occurs with the Lenovo install, but is not present on a clean install of Windows 7 or 8.

Removing the power manager will probably make it go away, but then you will lose the advantages of the power manager

Indeed it is related to going from 60 to 50Hz for screen refresh rate.

Try this (the Intel video driver should be installed):

Right click on the desktop -> choose Graphics Properties.

Pick Basic or Advanced Mode (doesn't really matter).

Pick Power on the left column.

On the right column is says Power Source. Click the drop-down box. Select On battery.

Underneath you will see Power Conservation Features. Uncheck Display Refresh Rate Switching.

That's what was switching it from 60 to 50Hz. You're good to go!

One other place to check is under the profiles for Power Manager under Idle timers. Make sure Lower display refresh rate is set to "Never".

OP did you try that fix for the 60 to 50 switch that JwY posted?

Sorry I didn't post instructions in my first post, wasn't thinking that day ha.

I didn't - I actually just installed updates through Lenovo's Software Updater (not thinking it would help this issue) and the screen flickering was fixed upon reboot.
