Hi everyone, I just bought this laptop and I love it. But the screen in too bright for me in the sense that I can hardly see things as in the border of the box I am now typing in. Also on Facebook photos that were fine on my desktop and mobile, look over exposed and white. I have tried the brightness button but this does not help. Any other ways for me to fix this as it is affecting me being able to use this. Thanks

You've lowered the brightness to the lowest and it's still too bright?

Yeah, it's like the black isn't dark enough if that makes sense? Also as I said it's making all of my photos look weird :S

Have you gone into the Intel Graphics controller or whatever GPU controller is on that model? You should be able to adjust the gamma, brightness, and contrast.

I'm not on my laptop so IIRC if you have Intel graphics right-click on the icon or on the desktop and choose 'graphics properties.' Choose 'color enhancement' and move the sliders along to the desired brightness.

I have windows 7 & it doesn't have that option, sorry. I'm quite useless when it comes to things like this.

Do not open up any programs.

On desktop> right-click> what do you see? Is there an option for graphics???

No, I have turned the gamma down which has improved the text. But images such as photographs still look over exposed there is a photo of my friend and on my phone and desktop it looks fine, yet on my laptop it looks as if the flash is in her face and you can't notice most of her features.

Try using the Windows Display Color Calibrator to see if that helps. Go to the Start Orb and type in "calibrate" and choose the first option. From here you can control the gamma and brightness of your display as well as configuring the Cleartype text should you need to.

Maybe check the BIOS to see if the LCD Brightness setting is set to "High" instead of "Normal"? I know this option exist on Lenovo Thinkpads so it could be worth a shot. I think to access the BIOS on the G550 is the F1 key.

The BIOS brightness is for battery mode IIRC. Is that particular picture the only media that seems overly bright? How are desktop wallpaper? How is video?
