I just got a new T60 15.4" WXGA. The reason I got the 15.4" as opposed to a more portable version was because I have trouble seeing things on small screens and reading small text. But everything on this computer is smaller than on my old 15" monitor! Why is this? Is there any way I can fix it? When I change the screen resolution to make everything bigger it's very fuzzy.

It sucks to be computer illiterate.

EDIT: re-posting this in more general forum as it's not really a Thinkpad issue.

Yes, with any LCD screen you have to stick with resolution it recommended. I guess in your case it is 1680 * 1050. What you have to do is to go into display properties and change in Appearance tab font size, you can actually tweak every single thing on the screen with "Advanced" on the same screen.

Or maybe you can try Vista (assumed you are using XP now). Vista have better capability in fonts and icons scaling so it wont jeopardize your desktop look when you change the DPI settings.

When i tried XP in 1680*1050 everything looks too small. When i changed the DPI setting it break the desktop composition : some fonts look too big, some fonts stretched too far from its box, some icons look jagged, some icon does not appear at all, etc.

When i switch to Vista, at first everything looks too small too. But when i change the DPI setting the font and icon adjust its size proportionally (106 is adequate for me from the original 96). Nothing looks different, just bigger. There is no jagged icons.
