First off - let me say that I hope this isn't anything major going on that is going to cost me a lot of money ... I plan on keeping the T60 for another year ... hopefully.

Last week I was using it (running off AC Power, battery in) and it just turned off on me for no reason. I hit the power button and the lights on the front just flashed and it made a crackle noise. After trying it again, nothing.

I unplugged the Adapter and pulled the battery. Put everything bad in and turned it on. After this, it ran off of the battery even though it was plugged in. I powered it down and played around with the battery and ac adapter and it started working again.

Now I'm having the problem of it just running the battery dead and it not charging or running off of the AC Power even though it is plugged in.

Not sure what is going on here. The light that indicates it is plugged in is on so it is noticing that it is plugged in.

sounds like the charging module failed or something's wrong with it. send it in to repair if it's under warranty.

    No Warranty :(

Is the charging module the AC adapter?

i don't think it's the AC adapter....but rather something on the motherboard / within the laptop =/
i would get a second opinion though.

Figured I'd give an update on this. I lost the battery on the 7th. I ordered a 9 cell but for now it's stuck to the desk.

    The charging problems have disappeared.
