I've had my T61 for a few months now and I can't help but notice that on the lid, there is a scuff like appearance on the left and right edges. I don't have a digital camera but I do have MS Paint. ;)

So with my artistic abilities, here's how it looks:

The scuff is on the left and right edges like in that picture.

Does your guyses lid get like that in any way?

I am still confused on what the problem is. Exactly how does the image help explaining your issue?

You mean like slightly lighter on each of the sides than in the middle? Illustrate it better.

Yea, the edges of the lid are lighter than the middle. It's very foggy looking for lack of better description. It's like if you saw a guy with horrible tan lines.

I'll try to find a picture, I remember seeing one on Google.

Do you mean that some parts are grayish in color compared to the rest being black?

    Correct.

It was a solid black to begin with, but over time the edges on the left and right side begin to fade kind of.

Ok, I know exactly what your talking about now. All our Thinkpads at work look like that. It has something to do with the material they are now using on the cases.

That is normal. Did you want a fix for it?

I was just wondering if other ThinkPads get like that also. :)

The paint is rubbing off thats all just be careful when you put it in your bag and then take it out thats when it gets scratched. A Sharpie will fix it or at least for me.

It is normal wear and tear from handling your notebook. You mostly only grip the edges so the paint is starting to wear off, thus getting ligther and grayer
