    Hello all,

I ordered and received a 14.1" T61p and when I received it I was checking to make sure everything was in order when I thought "hmm, this looks really familiar to my old 14" T41... I thought I ordered the widescreen". But when I put my two computers side by side it was the exact same size and dimensions, so I knew this wasn't a widescreen laptop. So I call Lenovo and tell them that I ordered the 14.1 T61p widescreen but received the 4:3 screen and they keep insisting that "it's not possible" and I keep insisting that I chose the widescreen option - so they put me on hold and I'm looking up information during the process and I realize that there is no such thing as a widescreen 14.1 T61p (?), but the customer service guy tells me that I can return the order with a $120 restock fee and order a new one with the widescreen. I'm a little confused at first because I asked him if there actually was no such thing as a widescreen 14" T61p and he says there is but I just didn't order it with the widescreen option.

Anyhow, at the end of the day I have a 4:3 T61p with all the specs I want at an amazing price, with the only little killjoy being that it wasn't the widescreen that I expected. But I do have the option of returning it, but I wanted to run this by the community here and weigh the practicalities and the potential benefits of a 4:3 as opposed to widescreen - Is there anything better about the 4:3? Or is the widescreen actually better? Any advice or feedback with my situation would be greatly appreciated!

Can you post your invoice? You're right, there is no such thing as a 14'' wide screen t61p, so it looks like a user error on your part.

my invoice says SXGA - TFT

I'm pretty sure it was a mistake on my part too. :(

But I don't mind either the restock fee nor the 4:3 screen, so I just wanted to get a grasp on if there are any compelling reasons to go with a standard or wide screen.

Maby you could sell it and get more money then returning it with the restocking fee.

Going with a wide screen 14.1 T61 is an option at this point too.

    Good deals on them.

I would see if there is any way that you can avoid the $120 restocking fee (try selling it on Ebay or something). Then, get what you really wanted, the Wide screen model. Otherwise, you will regret not getting the wide-screened model if that is what you originally wanted.

    Just my .02 cents.

Apparently the standard 4:3 screen is no longer available, it should be easy to find someone who will buy it.

What are the specs, I may be interested since I may be looking to buy a 14.1" T61P.
