    Hey

This is way off topic. But I need help, and couldn't ask anywhere else.

I am in the market for a NETBOOK. But I figured, all I need is to have a word processor (any word processor).

Her's what I thought: is there a way I can buy a cheap cell phone (i have a Nokia N95 - maybe that's sufficient) and also buy a mini-keyboard, and just use that as my "netbook" (-:

I a student, and all I want is a way to write things in class. That's it!

Thanks to all you out there that are helping retards like me (-:

Do you mean you want to buy a barebones notebook , so you can install your own cpu , mem, hdd.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy? Netbooks are selling for like $200 CDN (I am sure the price is rapidly coming down in the next 6 months due to the intense competition in this category).

If on the other hand, you are looking to build one as a hobby, I can't see why not. As an engineer, I used to build "silly" things like these as a side. The easy availability of off-the-shelf components makes this more viable now. Keep in mind though that your final product will likely not give you the "real" netbook experience :)

I am sure you can google and come up with instructions on how to build your own little computer.

I think you would be much better off buying a netbook to take notes on rather than a phone with a keyboard.

if you are going to be taking notes, just buy the cheapest full-size notebook you can find

trying to keep up with the lecture typing on a netbook keyboard would be a nightmare
