My $12.48 (shipped) 2nd HD adapter finally arrived and I thought I'd share some quick pictures and thoughts with you.

+ houses the HD well, not too tight and not too loose.
+ feels fairly sturdy in construction and looks straight
+ fits in the ultrabay very well and it blends nicely color and texture wise
+ transfer speed seemed good to me. I transferred 33gb of music to it at a speed starting at around 20mb and towards the end rising to about 40mb (see last picture)
    - Not sure why but the adapter came with 4 hd screws which I could not find a use for.

Because you may want second internal HD maybe? ;) Or at least to reduce clutter :)
Not to mention that on at least some Thinkpads even eSATA is limited to Gen-1 while Ultrabay is Gen-2, giving more raw transfer speed.

Ingvarr is spot on. An internal HDD is priceless for the reasons explained.

Transfer speed between my Intel 160GB G2 SSD and my Hitachi 5K500.B is the quickest I have every experienced between two notebook drives. Average transfer speed will be above 70 MB/s. For shorter transfers for i.e. 1GB files it will only take about 4 seconds, averaging 250MB/s - how this is possible I don't know but perhaps someone can shed some light on this.

It would be nice if someone shared knowledge considering full sized HDD in ultrabay enhanced, will it house 12.5mm drives or not?

Well, it's won't be "internal" exactly. Just inside the ultrabase.

There are two screwholes on the left and right side of the HDD. You attach the screws then slide under the tabs in the caddy which then prevents up/down HDD movement. Some caddies also have a front panel placed at the front of the HDD to prevent forward movement. The combo securing the HDD firmly in the caddy.

Oh man, I paid $13.50 for mine - ripoff! :)

Glad it seems to be working fine. Haven't received mine yet, but expect it to work just as the original would.
