    Hello,
I am looking to buy a E540 with following specs :

    I7 4712MQ
    16GB memory
1TB 5400rpm disk (will add SSD for OS)
    15.6" with 1920*1080 resolution

I will use this laptop for running a few VM's and developement using JAVA and/or .NET

Is there any known problems with this model? It seems to be very cheap in my country, I am looking for a long living laptop for at least 4 years. I don't careif it is ergonomic, lightweight or thin. I care the functionality.

    Thanks for your ideas

You might want to head to the What Should I Buy forum and fill out the sticky if you're looking for alternatives. The E540 should get you a good keyboard and ThinkPad support. If you want it to last, you might want to add accidental and/or on-site coverage.
