    Specs:
    Core Duo T2500 2.0 GHZ
    15.4 WSXGA+
    512 DDR2 (will add 1 gb)
    128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
    80GB, 5400rpm
    8x Max DVD-RW
    6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

    all for $1400

I really wanted to wait for the merom but I need it for school by labor day. Good price? Good enough graphics for half life 2? Any thoughts at all?

I was deciding between this, the z60t, and the T60. The T60 has all of this except has the ATI X1300 with 64MB and is the same price. The z60t is 50 dollars cheaper and has the Intel graphics.

I wrote the review for that machine. It is a very good machine. The x1400 should have no problems with Half-Life 2. It is a bit heavy if you need any mobility. For around the same price on Lenovo.com you can get a similarly configed 14" T60 if you want to go lighter. No reason to get the Z60t since it is old school and HL2 will be a challenge. Good Luck.

ey ZaZ just wanna ask you something...

how do i know if i am going to get the matte or the maxbright (glossy?) screen? are these two great?

is RAM installation pretty easy? i don't want to snap off a palm rest just prying the it...

my sister bought me a Z61m 9450-39U (after reading your review of course) in euclidcomputers.. just like the one you reviewed and all... i read that your review unit came with a 3-year warranty. but mine only has 1year... and man! it costed my sister 2099USD...

Look it up in the tabook. The memory is located under the touchpad. Just take off a few screws and pop the palm rest. Its not too bad. If you are holding by the sides just push in.

I was considering one of these as well...I was not aware that Maxbrite meant a glossy screen. Is that true?

It is not glossy only brighter. ThinkPads do not do glossy for the time being.

Being a Z60m owner, I can say with reasonable certainty that the choise of a Z61m is a good choise. I would caution you about Lenovo's shipping times. It took me almost a month to recieve my notebook. As for waiting, Don't wait! By the time the new Merom processor comes out everyone will be talking about the newer future notebook that hasn't come out.

    P.s. I love my Z60m, and I didn't wait for the Z61m which I could have purchased.

yeah... and merom's power consumption is a bit higher than that of the core duo

i think people should just settle to the "tried and tested" products... i mean why wait and rush into having the latest. i think it is still a play-safe when you purchase core duo powered laptops. then maybe wait maybe 6months for meroms after a while of its first release.

ey superfly... so you did got your's from lenovo... my sister just ordered one on euclidcomputers... it will be on her front door by monday they said. i hope there'll be no delays

    No biggie about the warranty...
You can upgrade the warranty buying from lenovo, it's only about $100 for 3 years (and you can cover up to 5 years)
You can add exta protection too (against dropping breakage, water/spill damage, LCD breakage, accidental damage, etc) for about another $100 for 3 yrs.

This is a fraction of the cost of after market warranties from big box shops, and it's better!
