I'm a college student; a computer science major freshman. I'm going to a fairly large campus and I estimate I'll do a fair amount of toting my computer around. I ordered a larger 15.4 t61 when they were on sale in mid-july, but it's getting ever closer to the time when I need it for school. I noticed now that Lenovo has a sale on the x61 series bringing an equivlently powered x61 to slightly less than I will end up paying for my t61 (except of course to the graphics card). Should I cancel my order and get an x61?

well you need to ask yourself, is weight, smaller screen, and no gpu going to hurt you? Mabey, but IMO the 14inch T61/P is the perfect balance. I would look into one of these units.
