I am thinking if I need to get a T60. I have went to thinkpads.com many times, and noticed that T60 has fan noise and Battery loose problems.
I am currently using T42, I like it, it very quite and cool( unless I play game, the fan will run fast). Fan noise is not acceptable for me....
so , does anyone have owned a T60? I want to hear ur experience on these two problems i have mentioned.

My friend let me use his t60 for a week while he was away for vacation. That one week has absolutely convinced me that thinkpads are the way to go. I never noticed a fan problem. The fan was much quieter then the dell xps I used to own. The battery does move if you move it yourself but its not loose in the fact that it will fall off.

and ronan if the 4:3 aspect ratio is not a must you can wait 2 weeks for the announcement of the widescreen T60. With the different construct these two issues you worry about will not be a factor.

My T60 has NO problem with fan noise...I barely hear it and my machine is only slightly warm to the touch. I have the 9 cell battery and mine does not move or wiggle at all...it sticks out a bit in the back, but the added strength is worth it; besides it makes a nice carrying handle. :)

There are always nitpickers, and I think forums.thinkpad.com has more than its fair share. Mine is pretty solid and quiet. 9-Cell's battery life is great. I worked on battery from 8:30 ro 12:20 yesterday, wireless on the whole time, majority of the time with the screen brightness set to either 1/7 or 2/7, and some at the time at 0/7 and 7/7. I was using the net, writing a paper, opening PDF's. After those 3hr 50 minutes it still said 31% battery left when I plugged it back into the AC adapter.

Go to the 'reviews' tab, look up 'Lenovo/IBM', scroll down to T60.

Fan noise isn't an issue, although I do notice that the battery isn't 100% tight in the bay. Probably easier to notice because it sticks out the back and is easier to grab.
