I'm not sure if I should get the integrated T61 webcam. I have heard that some businesses ban cameras, so getting a webcam may not be a good way of futureproofing my T61. I have also heard that the T61's webcam picture quality is not as good as a dedicated webcam. Any suggestions?

I'd say hold off on it and simply get a usb webcam designed for notebooks. that way you can have it for home and not worry about the laptop not being allowed at work. What would you be using it for?

Didn't you order already?

As of now I would probably not be using it, but I thought I might want to future-proof my t61 by getting the webcam. However, I realized that I might be doing exactly the opposite. -

the webcam is cool.
I've used it only once but it has a decent picture, nothing too fancy.
settings can be adjusted to get a better composition though. -
the picture is fine, but its small. The video chat quality sucks, because the integrated mic and video cam do not play well together. Until lenovo puts out new drivers and improves the cam, i wouldnt lose sleep over not having it. i got mine for video and audio recording, but its been a disappointment, even after tons of adjustments

Get an external USB notebook one - logitech just released a new one that can definitely are a lot better and can last longer - includes a carl zeiss lens and provides autofocus.

Webcams are nice. Maybe you can make a living showcasing your sexy self.

i only got it for security purposes and portability...there's this software called creative webcam....and it includes motion sensor software...so that way when ure away from ure desk...you can have it auto record when it senses motion...kinda cool for a measly $20!

I dont like the idea of having to carry around an additional webcam. I just got it cause it was an extra 30 bucks and it was integrated in there. Even though its not the greatest, its decent enough for webchat.

Get it. It's convenient for video chats; never had any problem with it and the mic on skype. The picture is not the greatest; it's absolutely fine for chats, but if you're going to use it even semi-professionally then it won't cut it (don't know what app or use that would be, but I'm trying to be exhaustive).
Should I get the integrated webcam?
