Should I have gotten the 14inch instead of the 15inch T60?

I just read on here that "the 15 inch is for those who don't know better."

I recently ordered the 15 inch because:

    1) I have a 15inch R40 and I thought it might not be the best to change from a 14 to a 15 inch screen since I am used to a 15.

    2) I didn't think that the weight would be that much different. Portability is important, but not .5 ounces important *to me*.

    3) I had been reading on here problems people have been having with the 14.1 inch displays having dead/stuck/whatever pixels.

Did I make a good choice? I haven't actually gotten it and opened the box so I could decide different. Any feedback would be great.

    Thanks!

15" is only worth it if you're gonna get flexview in my opinion.

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the 15" screens, flexview or no. The only issues I can think of are the larger size and the possibility (seems unlikely with the roll cage) of flexing too much if you pick it up by a corner.

The 14" in my sig just arrived today and when I pick it up by the corner, it doesn't make any sort of creaking noises or seem to flex in the least. My t30, which I thought was well built had a lot more give to it, as did the t42 my g/f had for awhile. Based on that, I'd think that a 15" t60 would be fine in the flex department.

BTW, my 14" doesn't have any apparent dead or stuck pixels, but I may have just not noticed them yet. ;)

15" vs 14" is completely preference, so there is no Right or Wrong choice. The 15" is a bit larger and heavier, but if having the larger screen is more important for your uses than that bulk difference, then it's the right choice. I personally haven't seen a 15" t-series, so I don't know how much of a difference there really is.

I had a 15" laptop for 6 years before I got this one (14"), and I was also very hesitant about going to a smaller screen. The switch was surprisingly painless, though; I really had no problem adjusting. It could be different for you, obviously, but I wouldn't let that concern completely dictate your choice.

I'm in the same boat and pulled the trigger on a T60p with the 15" flexview yesterday.

It was a hard decision - I really wanted to go small for this machine (almost went with an X but I need an optical), and would have much prefrerred to get a 14" model, but they don't make a 14" flexview :( and flexview sounded too good to pass up. (I need to show off my work to clients and a good screen is essential.)

I was also tempted to wait and see if a 14" flexview comes out anytime soon, but from reading various forums it sounds like people have been waiting for this for years. There's also a rumor (?) on thinkpads.com that the flexview will be going away rather than making more of them, so ???

So basically, I need a notebook now, and after a lot of research and soul-searching this sounded like my best option. We'll see in a few weeks! =)

This was my thought process exactly, and I did the same in the end. It arrived Monday but only tomorrow will I get home to try it out. I guess I will then know whether I made the right choice.

My vote too would be the 15" only if you got the flexview...14", 15"...one inch just doesn't make that much difference, in screen size, anyway! I like the 14" for slightly better portability.
Congrats on your purchase and let us know what you think of it.
