I just got an email today from Lenovo saying my regular 1 year warranty is going to expire in 30 days. Should I consider renewing it? My laptop wasn't particularly expensive when I purchased it, I paid a little under 1000 dollars. So far its been acting good and I haven't ran into any hardware problems; software seems to run ok also. I also happen to be one of those people that don't trust the repair depots so I'm leaning on the side not to renew it.
Its hard to believe its almost been a year since I got it, I should probably open it up and blow it out.

I vote no; don't get it if you don't feel like it will be of value.
I hope it doesn't die in 31 days. -

That would depend on the cost of warranty. For yours I think no need.

I really don't know the cost of the warranty, they didn't say in the email. I assume its around 200-300 dollars. Can anyone give a any input what it might be? They are closed for the weekend so I would need to wait until Monday.

I didn't know you can actually renew the regular warranty?
I thought all these stores are always trying to sell you their extended ones and you will always have to buy it at the same time when you purchased the laptop.
The email actually has written something about renewable option?
-
you can renew it but if you do they will count your first year against your new purchase warranty
I was offered a 4 year for 207.00 but it would have been an effective from the day I got my laptop. So it was basically 3 years from the point of purchase.
it will also not cover the battery as the battery is only covered for a year.
I decided not to get it. I will use the money for a new battery in the future or towards a new laptop. -

Get an accidental warranty for an additional 2 years and accidentally drop it down the stairs when you get that email again in 2 years.
That's what I plan on doing. -

I'm thinking the warranty might be worth it in terms of when you resell it on Craigslist it would be easier to sell and probably get more for the laptop because it still has warranty. And you get the advantage of having the warranty.
The Lenovo warranty follows the laptop and can be easily looked up online. -
I don't think I'll be selling it anytime soon. Its my school note taking laptop so I'm probably going to be using it for a 3-4 years or more. As for accidental warranty, I kinda doubt I would use it, if something did happen to it then I would probably just sell it for spare parts on ebay. Thats if I can't fix it myself, if the hdd gave out or some replaceable part I could just swap it out.
The only regret I have have about it is that its a bit to big for being a note taking computer, an X61 would of done the same job just fine.
Should I renew my warranty?
