I got the 76U off the epp for 1399.00 then I ordered a stick of 512 and an extra 9 cell, I just found out that IBM has recently released at bunch of new T43 configs.

    The 76U is a 2.0 ghz, 512, 80 gig, bluetooth, no fingerprint reader, x300, 14.1 SXGA, cdrw.

Has IBM released anything like the 76U but with a faster harddrive, with the finger reader and DVDRW? I also heard the new models don't have the fan problem?

If its worth it I will return my t43 for the new t43's or a Z series.

The fingerprint reader isn't worth the trouble. ThinkPads use Panasonic DVD Burners which aren't very good burners in my opinion. An external is a better option. I have a NEC burner in an external case. I leave the extra battery in the bay. Looks like the Z series is an adopted Leveno machine. It is a bit of an unknown at this point. It is going to be heavier than your current rig.

That 76u model is the one I've decided to purchase. Looks like a really solid system that has everything I'm looking for. Zazonz has it right about the FP reader and the DVD burner, though. I totally agree.

I'm still on the hunt for this system though, so if you could offer any suggestions on where to get one priced as well as the one you got, then let me know. See my other thread for more info on my laptop choice.
