Comparing the T61 in my sig, should I sell it and get this T60p?
    T2700 2.33ghz Core Duo
1 stick of 1 GB RAM
Windows XP Home that I would replace with Vista Business from MSDN
    14.1" WXGA+
    FireGL V5250 128MB
    Thinkpad Wireless a/b/g
    80gb 5400rpm

I would take out the 160gb 7200rpm and put it in the T60p and put the 80gb into the T61 before I sold it.
Think I would be able to get about $900 for the T61 with all the same specs minus the 160gb HD?

Basically I'm wondering if it is worth all the hassle and wait to increase to the V5250 from the Quadro 140M?
Other than that there doesnt seem much to gain from a laptop I'm happy with.

Depends, do you actually need that power?

I would love that power, but it is such a pain to buy and sell, espcially when notebooks are not selling well used considering how cheap you can get a new one.
I'm thinking I would rather save myself the hassle and just stick with this one for a couple years, I'm tired of flipping notebooks every 6 months.

Dropping from a core 2 duo to a core duo is a fairly big hit - would probably lose anything you gained from the 5250. Also the T61 has a faster chipset, that can address 4 gb ram with a 64 bit OS (the t60 cannot), and the C2D is 2 cores at 64 bit. I see no way you gain in this scenario...

The only reason why I would drop to the T60p would be to obtain a FlexView screen.

I have not had the pleasure of a FlexView screen, but it sure seems they were the balls. Why oh why would they drop such a wonderful thing??? I am anxiously awaiting my T61 and am hoping it is my dream laptop. I am fussy, but I hope not as fussy as some on this board :) Dave

Looks like I'm sticking with the T61 then. I had thought the original Core Duo from the C2D would suck.

I dont think the model I'm looking at has flexview, those ended a looong time ago (in computer time that is)

If it really is a 14.1" WS, then it doesn't have FlexView. AFAIK FlexViews only came in 15" UXGA resolutions, with a 256MB V5250.
