    Hi
I will be starting med school this coming fall and I think tablet would be more useful because I can directly draw on the figures and have electronic copy of all the notes(also it will cost money to print out the slides)

I'm trying to sell my x61s, but so far no luck..and one person agreed to trade with me a x41 tablet.

Do you guys think this is worth it?
The biggest differences i see is the processor ( Core Duo vs M ) and Harddrive speed (7200RPM vs 4200 RPM....)

I really don't have extra money to spend on a new tablet btw

    Thanks

If you absolutely can not spend $300 or so after selling the x61s then sure trade it if you really want a tablet.

You'll see a marked difference in bootup speed, as well as the speed at which applications load. I do not think it would be worth it, but if you really need the tablet feature, then it would be an okay trade.

When do you start school? Although I haven't seen any x61t for that cheap recently if you can hold out and save up you can grab from for $650 probably.

I start early August. I can definitely try to wait until then and decide if I really need a tablet,

but I will be moving back home after graduation and it's likely that I will lose contact with the guy who I will be trading in person..also I am reluctant to spend money on a laptop =\ gotta save up to pay loans..

Thanks for your advice, I think I should wait now hm..

I suppose you could trade and upgrade the hard drive. That's another option.

Unfortunately, that is very hard to do. The x41T uses a non-standard 1.8" hard drive with a ZIF connector and there are very few upgrade options. The most popular choice tends to be a 16GB CF card with IDE adapter, but that has its own set of problems.

I certainly can vouch for the advantage of tablet features for annotating slides, drawings, etc. and think a tablet may be of good use for you. The x41T is a fine machine, but it is held back by it's very slow HDD. The processor speed makes little difference in most applications, but the difference in drive speed can make the system feel very slow.

I personally would recommend you hold off for a little while and see if you can find a decent price on an x60T or x61T as they have the option for far faster HDD or SSD.
