I checked the warranty online and it doesn't show the TPP part.

I also never received any papers so i can file to prove it in the future.

I called lenovo and they said my order has it on (but i don't have it showing up in the email confirmation)

What should i do ? should i trust what they say? (This time, as with all recent telephone calls, i got an Indie dude that really should not interface with English speaking customers.

The flow of the conversation was like this:
    1) he told me that i don't have tpp.
    2) once i insisted that i purchased it he told me that i have 1 year of tpp and he would be more than happy to transfer me to the warranty department should i want to add additional years
    3) Again i insisted... he says oh yes i see 4 years tpp.

    WTF.

I just don't want to be stuck in a couple of years with no tpp and have the burden of proving it.

I have the a very similar warranty with TPP, and I had the same concerns. The rep for my area said that I should keep the invoice for piece of mind. But, the TPP and warranty follow the serial number.

So what do you see when you do the warranty search online ?

    I see this:
    "Description:
This product has a special bid four year limited warranty. This product is entitled to parts, labor and on-site repair service (9x5 next business day) in approved locations. Thinkpad batteries have a one year warranty.
    "

    Thanks.

Cut and paste from the warrranty page.

    Description:
This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a ThinkPlus warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to on-site service. This machine is also entitled to the Thinkpad Protection Service. Customers may call the PC HelpCenter (800-426-7378) for more information.

Call in to Lenovo and ask what service you are entitled to and see what their system indicates. As long as you have your invoice I think you are fine. The original confirmation for my web order shows the TPP, so maybe yours does as well. I don't think you will have any trouble getting Lenovo to honor your warranty.

EDIT:The larger manual in the box has a breakdown of model numbers and warranty/service terms. My model is a 6462-CTO which means I have a 4 year on-site warranty. You may check into it from that perspective.

CTO means custom to order or something like that. no relation to the warranty.

Nah, CTO="configured to order", so for completeness I included it. What is your four digit ID?

According to that list I mentioned we have the same warranty, but that does little to demonstrate valid proof of the TPP. I will keep a copy of my invoice for the life of the system. I like the idea of CarePaqs used by HP/Compaq, because they provide certificates that detail warranty upgrades.

You should be ok. The ttp warranty is attached to the serial number on your laptop

A copy of the invoice will not help you much when dealing with Lenovo/IBM - unless you purchased your laptop from an authorized retailer. This is what I was told by Lenovo reps over the phone and in email, although it is not written or stated anywhere.

(see my new thread about the subject)

I can't believe you were shocked by that. That is the status quo for most consumer electronics. Send it back and buy from an authorized dealer. We bought from Lenovo directly so we won't have any trouble.

They finally updated the warrenty info ... now it shows:
"This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a ThinkPlus warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to on-site service. This machine is also entitled to the Thinkpad Protection Service. Customers may call the PC HelpCenter (800-426-7378) for more information."

I should print screen and save it somewhere :p
