Some ones told me that they are interested in the LED pannel in T500, and thus I post here a simple review.

    1. Brand:
My LED panel has a type of 154WX7-TLA2. Dreamer (thank you very much :)) helped to find out it's a LG-philips panel.
    2. About WXGA:
Yes, the WXGA seems strange for 15.4 screen, because most people want WXGA+ or higher resolution. However, it's just the thing I want. My previous notebook is a dell xps m1330 with 13.3 WXGA LED pannel. The toshiba led pannel in m1330 looks good, and that's why I want LED. But the font size is too small to me. I had to adjust DPI to 120%, and something looks ugly. Therefore, I want a LED pannel with low resolution, which is just the screen offered with T500.
To be honest, the pixels on T500 looks very large at my first look, bigger than I thought... After several minutes I get used to it. It's important to protect eyes, so I am satisfied by the large fonts.
    3. About LED:
It's very bright. I only use 80% brightness for indoor use, and I believe 100% brightness is useful for outdoor use.
    4. Light leak and others:
I have to admit that the LED panel is not very superior to my desktop CCFL backlit screen besides the brightness (maybe and power saving). I know some other LED pannels can give pure black and very high contrast. While the LED pannel in T500 has not these adavantages: there is some light leak from the bottom and the black is not as pure as turned off. The surface type may be the reason because the mirror surface can give higher contrast and more pure black. I have put a mirror surface protecton layer on my m1330. After that, the contrast became higher, the black became as pure as turned off, the light leak became not noticeable, but the screen is more mirror-like... I think if I put the mirror surface protection layer on my T500, the contrast can be higher and light-leak can be weakened.
    6. In all:
The screen is good, although not as good as the best LED pannel. I am happy with my T500.

    Updated on Oct 11:
I have compared The LG pannel in T500 with the Toshiba pannel which is the most welcomed LED pannel for dell XPS M1330.
    [ Color ]
I'm not a professional photographer so I just compare the colors with my eyes. The Toshiba is very vivid. Surprisingly, the LG pannel has colors with higher saturation: the blue is more blue, the red is more red, the green is deeper, although the yellow is less yellow than the Toshiba pannel.
Note: the color of LG pannel may be different from my previous review because I have already put a AR protection surface on it... The pannnel surface become smooth now from matte, which may help increasing the saturation.
    [ View Angle ]
However, the toshiba pannel beats the LG pannel for view angles. The toshiba has a good view angle although it's also TN pannel. The LG is not the same good. Besides, the large 15.4 inch size makes the thing worse...
    [ grainny things ]
Some Sumsang and CMO pannels are notorious for the grainny things. My LG pannel has no such problem. Can not find it.
    [ ... ]
I think the LED backlit can give us higher brightness, higher saturation, and more powever-saving (Although I have not tested on the power saving.) Hope it will help for the guys who are looking for LED screen.

Thanks for your telling about your impressions.
Little question, does LED improve battery life or will it be about the same?

Can I ask where you got a T500 with a LED?

The model number you posted is a 12.1 screen in the link that dreamer posted?

    Clarification needed?

I was going to ask the same thing. I've been checking the site daily and haven't seen a T500 with LED yet.

THANK YOU very much for offering your thoughts.

I've been deliberating for the longest time over the WXGA LED or WSXGA+ CCFL option on the T500 and I think your review helps a lot! Since I exclusively use my laptop indoors, the brightness isn't a huge concern for me. I think I'd rather have the better contrast and increased real estate of the WSXGA+ CCFL screen.

    Drake,
the 12.1 screen size for the 154WX7 model on the link http://www.lgdisplay.com/homeContain/jsp/eng/prd/prd300_j_e.jsp is a typo. If u check the dimensions u see its a 15.4 size -- compare to the other models both 15.4 and 12.1 on that same web page.

    Heavenfire,
PLEASE confirm in what country u bought your T500.
