New W520 with a working sound card, working speakers and working microphone.

However Skype cannot access either the speakers or the microphone. Skype error message is that it cannot access the sound card.

    Anyone else with this problem?

    Perry

The new Conexant driver (8.32.23) solves the problem.

    Thank you,

run command 'lspci' and find the sound card ... on my T420 it is ...

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)

i am using arch linux (but installed via the archbang distro as it is a bit quicker).

based on what pkincy stated above, it sounds like your lspci command will reveal a different sound card (ie not intel).

test with the latest ubuntu 11.04 beta or archbang as they both will have very late kernels and easy to run & install.

my w520 has the same audio device:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation Cougar Point High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)

linux kernel 2.6.29 seems a bit too old for ubuntu 11.04 beta. or did you mean kernel 2.6.39?
