    Hi all,

I've been tearing my hair out with this issue. Ever since I installed a 1TB Samsung Evo 840 SSD into my new ThinkPad Yoga, I've had an issue where I'll close my laptop to put it to sleep, but the ThinkPad LED light remains lit and I hear the fans spinning. It obviously did not go to sleep. When I open the laptop again, the screen is black, and the computer is unresponsive. The only way I can regain control is to hold the power button until the laptop does a hard reset.

I am just about ready to reformat the entire laptop and start from scratch, but I'm hoping someone has had experience with this type of issue and knows what to do. I've experimented with removing the Samsung Magician software that optimizes the SSD, but even without the software installed I still have this issue. Keep in mind, sometimes the laptop will successfully go to sleep, it doesn't happen every time, and I can't find anything in the Event Viewer to target a specific problem.

    Thanks again for the help!

I put an 850 evo in mine. I first cloned the hdd using Samsung's software, which worked okay until I tried installing some optional updates from Microsoft. Once I did a clean install after removing the cache SSD and related software its been working great and boots to desktop in about 5 seconds versus about 20 seconds via cloning. However, I never had the issue you are describing with the random sleep cycles. Mine would always wake up after closing and opening the lid.

Also, mine is pretty quiet. I can't really hear the fan and haven't had a problem with it getting warm/hot yet.
