My U330 is about 4 months old and I'm having a recurrent problem.

When running on "battery", I have my Power Management set up so that my laptop goes into "sleep" mode when I close the lid. Unfortunately, there are random occasions when much of the battery is depleted within 24hrs of shutting the lid.

Doesn't happen all the time, and I've been trying to identify a pattern. Only thing I can think of is it seems to happen if I've been carrying the laptop around in my backpack (i.e., haven't noticed it if laptop sits overnight on the kitchen counter with the top shut). It's as if the movement somehow "wakes" it up, triggering battery drainage...

Anyway, it sucks. Never had this issue with my older Dell running XP. Is this a Vista problem? Lenovo update issue (I've updated the BIOS)? Bad battery (I get about 3hrs on a full charge)?

there is a possibility that you have wifi activity set to wake the laptop. There are settings to change that, although i forget exactly where it is.

there are in fact several things that can be set to bring the laptop out of sleep mode. You need to disable the ones that are causing the wake-up

Thanks for the info. Looks like you are right about this. I found the following link which was very helpful. For now, my bluetooth MOUSE seems to be the culprit  (makes sense if it was jostling around in my backpack). I made a couple of adjustments in the Device Manager and will see if it helps...

This is why I prefer to use hibernate, because then when I put it into hibernate, there is 0 draw on the battery, so if I let it sit all weekend, then I KNOW my battery is still gonna be full no matter what.

This is just my personal preference
