I have a Thinkpad r61e. Whenever I put the computer to sleep and then wake it up it will start up fine. But everytime I put the computer to sleep the second time and then wake it the computer starts up with nothing but a black screen. Anybody know how to fix this? any help would be appriecated

Sleep as in standby or hibernate? I've had varying issues with hibernation in both of my laptops but you'll need to try a few things to determine the problem. I'd recommend using msconfig (select Run from the start menu or task manager and type 'msconfig') and select 'diagnostic startup'. Reboot your computer when prompted and try sleeping twice. If it works it means an application, driver or service is conflicting with sleep. Use 'selective startup' to isolate the problem by turning each option on one by one and reboot and sleep twice each time. I used this procedure to diagnose my dv6519tx when it wouldn't go into hibernation and eventually tracked it down.

    Good Luck

I have always had problems with sleep mode ever since windows 98 back in 1997. I get a problem here and there with it, but it doesn't bother me very much since I have gotten used to it. I have much better luck with hibernate.
