    Hey Experts,

I just received my new X61s. Do you guys have any suggestions as to a better battery or a protective sleeve that I should purchase? I'd like to carry the laptop back and forth to class in my messenger bag with my books, and I'd prefer not to have to carry an additional laptop bag.

I'm not sure which battery came with the computer. I can only seem to find two numbers that may help the savvy identify it:

    FRU P/N 42T5247
    ASM P/N 92P1164

Thanks so much for any advice!

I can't help you,but i was wondering if you can help me! I'm looking into the x61 for college. Only thing holding me back is the size of the screen, 12.1". do you think it's just right?

    @ Picklehead

I purchased a Targus sleeve made for the Macbook, it fits the laptop and the charger perfect. The size of the sleeve is for 13" macbooks. It cost me $27 CDN.

I use the X61s myself for class and the 12.1" screen is perfect.

This thing is perfect for students, I carry mine with the sleeve in my backpack with 2 text books and a 3" binder with room to spare. Also the battery lasts between two 3 hour lectures when I use it in the "Maximum Battery Life" setting using the stock 8-cell battery.

I don't have it or my laptop yet, but I just ordered the Tom Bihn Soft Cell. I decided on Size 5 because it will be pretty close when I have my 8 cell and PCMCIA sound card in. I would have liked it a little tighter, but this is as close as I could find.

    Thanks, guys.

Tomatoking - I just got mine and haven't yet used it for class. However, I thought it was a good choice, because it's light. With the UltraBase, my understanding is that I can connect it to my desktop's 20" LCD. So, I hope that will mitigate any problems associated with the smaller screen.

If it sticks out it's the 8-cell.
