My R61 14.1" widescreen has a 6 cell battery which sticks out at the back. I was looking to buy a sleeve and because of the battery sticking out at the back i was not sure if sleeves for 14" will fit the R61, therefore i ordered a 15.4" sleeve online and recieved it just today.
To my horror, this sleeve is quite a lot bigger than my laptop and is very loose when i put it on. It rather feels uncomfortable to carry it around with this bigger sleeve. Can someone please advise me if the normal 14.1" widescreen sleeves will fit my R61 with the extended battery properly because i don't want to waste any more money by ordering another ill-fitting sleeve.
    Thanks

I've got the same challenge--a 14.1" widescreen R61 with the 6-cell battery hanging off the back.

I tried several sleeves that didn't work:
    • the 14" Belkin neoprene: it would be perfect with the 4-cell battery, but with the 6-cell it feels too small and tight. I sent it back to Amazon.
    • the 15" case logic sleeve: way too large and floppy; I returned it to Office Depot.

and a couple that I think do fit:
    • a generic Jansport : I found it at the bookstore in the university where I work. It fits perfectly but feels a bit thin with respect to padding... this is what I've got now.
    • the 15" Belkin: checked it out in a store--it seems to fit Ok and the padding is substantial, but I haven't purchased one.
    • the 14" Shinza ZeroShock III should fit if the measurements on their website are accurate, but the 14" and 15" versions are listed as having almost identical measurements on the website so I'm suspect. I've emailed them but have heard nothing back.

BTW, many "sizing charts" on websites won't have the R61 but mine is almost identical in measurements to a Dell D630 with the Dell's extra-capacity 9-cell battery which hangs off the front as a palm rest.

Please post what you end up getting as I think more data points will help us here.

Have a look at Pinder cases - their thin bag acts like a sleeve but can attach a shoulder strap and can carry power supply as well. Nicely made with ballistic nylon and seatbelt material. http://www.pinderbags.com/laptopbags.html. Small wide works for my R61 14" nd would have room for 6 cell.

This is where I purchase sleeve cases for our laptops. They are excellent quality, and higher priced than some, but well worth it, IMO.

I should have mentioned above. You can customize your own bag. They ask you what size laptop, display, battery, with or without straps, and even if you want the bag vertical or horizontal, etc.. It's pretty nice if you want a perfect fitting bag.
