Love using new T400 but have a slightly loose palmrest on right side. Have tried retightening the 4 screws that hold it after resedating it, but still same issue. Looks like right outside edge is not alligned properly and when I lift up on it, there is some play there or when I push in from right side of it there is some play. What would you recommend? Do you think support would even bother with this? Has anyone else had simlar problem and got it sorted and thanks.

No need to worry. All is fine, laptops always have flex somewhere.

If you are really bothered by it you can just call support and I am sure they'd be willing to send out a palm rest (as it is user replaceable).

I think someone has reported some issue like this before, and resolved it by actually slightly loosening the screw that holds in the hard disk cover. I'll try to find the thread.

Now that you mention it, that sounds familiar. Something to do with it not aligning flush if the hard drive bezel cover is too tight.

    Aloha:

Mine to. Tight bezel against chassis cover causes creaking under right palm rest. I figured the two would smooth out with time, no more creak. If you folks back that screw out a bit, a dot of finger nail polish to lock the head in place is worth considering.

Anyone want to comment on the rubber foot on right side under palm rest being more supple (squishy) than the left? Or is it just me? I mean, while we are looking at that area of the machine...

    A hui hou,
    Mark

Lossened the HDD cover screw and seemed to help the problem somewhat and thanks.

I've noticed that as well. I think that accounts for more of the complaints about the "right palm rest being squishy", since its not actually the plastic casing that moves but the footing.

Seems like the footing on the right side is about 3/4" further towards the centre of the notebook that the footing on the left, and that is why it appears softer. I guess Lenovo just can't design anything to be symmetrical!
