Sorry if this has been covered but the terms are so generic I couldn't find any details:
Is it possible to use an adapter on the older Slim Tip power cord to charge a 5th gen X1 with USB-C port? Or the reverse? I have a house full of Slim Tip power adapters, would love to use them with the new laptop.
Thanks.

I would be interested in the same topic. Having a T440 and a brand new X1 Carbon and don't want to carry around 2 chargers..

Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
@greystone @Dixi13 was going to write they supply different voltage, but hey - USB-C power delivery can run at 20V! Would be great if someone makes such an adapter, this way it will also solve the problem with compatible power banks for Slim Tip machines, which are almost non-existant.

I have the same issue. My traveling folks have these large external batteries. I just bought like 4 of them for the overseas trips and THERE IS NO WAY TO USE THEM WITH the new Lenovo USB-C power inputs? No adapters ? SERIOUSLY?

Dell has http://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-adapter-4-5mm-barrel-to-usb-c/apd/470-acfg/pc-accessories which means you need to convert the slim tip to 4.5mm barrel... the slim tip can be converted down to https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Com...Rectangle-7-5-3mm-11-0-4-4MM/32727269649.html a common 5.5mm 2.1mm barrel. And that barrel then converts to http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-5-5MM-x-...ONNECTOR-ADAPTER-FOR-DELL-LAPTOP/182764662609 to 4.5mm / 3.0mm which I believe that Dell accessory uses.
