I have had my new T61 for a few weeks now (specs below) and notice that it is quite slow to come out of hibernation. Much slower than my prior notebook (Dell B130 with Windows XP).
Any ideas on any thing I can do to speed this up?
Thanks!

Did you B130 have 2GB of RAM?... Vista's hibernation performance was improved with a patch so be sure you have everything from WU installed...
Generally speaking though, Hibernation works by shoving all of your RAM onto the HD and then pulling it back off the HD and shoving it back into RAM. The easiest way to improve performance in that arena is to close off memory hungry applications (less used RAM = less data needing to be written to the HD)... -
Shut down a few nonessential programs and TSRs before you hibernate. The less you have to store to memory, the less time it will take to restore FROM memory.
You may also want to run a memory test on your RAM, just to be sure everything is OK with it.
If you're interested, instructions follow:
To test your RAM, please download Memtest86 from:
http://memtest.org/download/1.70/memtest86+-1.70.iso.zip
Extract this file, then use a program like Nero or DeepBurner to burn the .ISO image to a CD-R (make sure you use the "Burn Image to Disc" option, rather than dragging and dropping the ISO onto a CD).
Once the CD-R has burned, boot your computer off of this CD-R (you may have to go into your BIOS to change the DVD boot priority to number one). Memtest will run continually until you press "Escape" to stop it. Most technicians suggest running Memtest overnight for a truly accurate burn-in, but even 2 hours is enough to get several full passes of the memory.
There will be an error-readout in the lower-right corner of the information display. If there are ANY errors, you will want to test each SODIMM individually and report the bad stick to your reseller. -
Nah, the B130 had like 256 or 512 MB of RAM.
I'll test my RAM to see what I get.
Thanks for the tip. -
Repeating what thain said.. "The less you have to store to memory, the less time it will take to restore FROM memory."
Slow coming out of hibernation.
