When configuring a T400/T500, why does Lenovo show the ExpressCard with Smart Card reader as the "recommended" option over ExpressCard with PC Card? I've never even seen a Smart Card. It's only like $10 more, so I can't imagine it's just to pad the sale.

Does anyone find Smart Card readers useful?

Smart cards are used in some corporate/government environments as a security device (must have the card to use the computer). They are of little to no use for a home user. Stick with PCMCIA or get the 7-1 media card reader (can take a memory card from a camera and put it right in your computer).
